Lauren Harriss
Lauren completed Public Services BTEC National Diploma Level 3 and is now studying for a Business Foundation degree at HRC
Why did you choose HRC for your course?
I chose HRC because I had heard so many good reports about both the education and the site. It was further for me to travel to, compared to more local colleges, but I instantly felt comfortable about my future at the college.
What were your expectations of the course and were they met?
After settling in almost straight away, I had very high expectations of the course and the quality of teaching, and trusted that I would do well. Overall my expectations were met and even higher than I first thought.
What do you feel you have achieved from your course and time at HRC?
Throughout the two years I have achieved more than I ever imagined I would. I have covered a wide range of subjects which will help me to succeed in my future, whether it’s in Public Service or not. This has ranged from physical preparation, to leadership and major incidents. Also because our course is so tight-knit, I have gained skills in team work and working individually. Not to mention 3 distinctions in a BTEC National Diploma!
What are doing now?
I loved the course so much at HRC that I am now studying a foundation degree in Business. It’s a two year course where I can have the choice to carry on for a further year to take my qualification to an Honors degree. I will decide this after I have successfully completed the two years.
Would you recommend HRC?
It might just be that I’m being bias because I’ve had the greatest time, but I do believe that the future and education of students comes first at this college and the focus is to help all students to succeed in everything they do. I have gained a lot of maturity during my time at HRC and I now feel really confident about my future. Compared to the other colleges that my friends go to, I think I’ve been to the best!!!
