Parents and Schools
If your child/student wishes to study with us at HRC we want to assure you that if they have the willingness and determination, we provide the support and teaching they need to succeed, whilst allowing them to learn in an adult environment.
We specialise in vocational post-16 options which give your child the opportunity to gain the skills they need to progress to a higher level qualification, go on to university, or to enter the workplace.
Vocational Qualifications (VQs), allow them to focus on learning skills that will give them a head start in their career. We provide hands-on practical experience in our new industry-standard facilities, to support the theory they will learn – so this means learning in and outside of the classroom.

Pre-16 options
At Hertford Regional College we offer young people aged 14-16 the opportunity to take introductory vocational courses where they will learn the basic skills for a career that interests them.
How does it work?
These courses are taken alongside their GCSEs. The courses normally run for 4 hours a week over 2 years and they lead to a nationally recognised qualification. Students are treated like adults whilst at the College and will be able to continue their training when they leave school.
We offer courses in the following areas:
- Child care
- Catering
- Computer Upgrade and Build
- Construction
- Motor Vehicle studies
- Salon Services (Hair and Beauty)
During Year 9 students will be able to find out more by sampling a variety of vocational areas before choosing a specific area for Year 10 and 11.
