Hertford Regional College's Higher Education provision in Games Design and Development top-up combines all the aspects of theory, practice, and technology essential to a student's career. Students will further advance their skills from the Level 4/5 (HND Games Design & Animation course) by learning advanced techniques in games design as well as programming and get the chance to discover the creative aspects of the games industry through practical projects. Students will have the opportunity to specialise in designing, programming, modelling and animation, and build a broad range of skills with a general games design and development degree. Lectures and workshops are dynamic and interactive. Students will be taught by lecturers all with industry experience. The course is designed for those who wish to pursue a career in computer game design and/or development, modelling or animation for gaming content for related applications in serious games or mobile.

What will I be doing?

Below are the modules that will be taught throughout the Level 6 Top-Up.

  • Advanced Game Design & Development (30 credits)
  • Content Creator (30 credits)
  • Final Major Project in Games Design & Development (60 credits)

Entry requirements

Successful completion of Foundation Degree/HND in a design discipline for example: Games Design, Games Art, Games Development, 2D and 3D Animation, Art & Design, Graphic Design, 3D Design, 3D Modelling, IT, Digital Technologies and Programming.

Provide evidence of Transcript at Level 4 and 5 from either a Foundation Degree, HND or BA (Hons) course.

Entry to this programme will also be determined by assessment of your portfolio and interview.

£8250 for the 2024/2025 academic year (subject to validation).
