Art & Design

This course builds on the techniques learnt in our Introduction to Modern Upholstery Workshop, progressing your understanding of modern upholstery processes with the aim of developing your independent working and decision making skills to enable you to be able to take on small upholstery projects on your own.

Students will learn the skills required to upholster and fit a cover on a simple chair i.e. one with an upholstered seat and back.  Throughout the course you will gain an understanding of the cutting process when fitting a chair and develop your sewing skills as required.

This couse is suitable for anyone who has previously completed our Introduction to Modern Upholstery Workshop or equivalent.

What do I need to bring?

Students are also advised to bring a notebook with plain paper and a camera (a phone with a camera is more than sufficient).

Basic materials are included in the course fee.

Upholstery tools will be provided for use within the workshop, however advice and guidance can be given if you wish to purchase your own kit.
