Level 2 in Hospitality provides a fantastic pathway for students interested in a career in Professional Cookery or Event Management.
For budding chefs, the course would make the perfect choice for students who have already achieved a level 2 in Professional Cookery and now want to learn more about the industry itself.
The course also provides a pathway for learners who have not yet achieved the grade criteria for our level 3 Event Management programme and would like to study a relevant level 2 qualification. Learners can progress to level 3 Event Management providing they achieve

Join an apprenticeship
Join our level 3 Event Management programme providing you meet the criteria. You will need to achieve a Merit grade or above, 5 grade 4 GCSE or above including English and maths and have a satisfactory behaviour and attendance record.
What will I be doing?
This course is a blend of classroom learning in world-class facilities at our Broxbourne campus and challenging work placement opportunities. The course offers you a unique chance to gain unrivalled work experience in a variety of roles and areas in the hospitality industry.
You will also build skills which are required in the hospitality industry, including research and analytical skills, creative thinking, problem-solving and team building. While doing this, we will introduce you to different aspects of the industry to help you understand what you're most interested in. This will cover hospitality, food safety, healthy lifestyles, planning an event and more
If you're looking for added extras, you've found the right course. Not only will you benefit from a wealth of experience from your lecturers, you will also have the opportunity to leave the classroom and experience the industry for yourself.
You will enjoy trips and visits to amazing events and businesses, such as Comic Con and McMullens Brewery. On top of this you can have the chance to go on international trips to get a glimpse at different hospitality cultures. Past trips have included Prague, Barcelona and Budapest.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through a mix of methods, including written reports and essays, exams, work-based projects, PowerPoint presentations and reflective journals.
To take on this course you will need:
At least 160 GCSE entry points OR a Level 1 Diploma at Merit level in a related subject such as Professional cookery or Travel and Tourism
GCSE Grade D/3 in English and maths
You will be enrolled on GCSE maths and / or English and will have the opportunity to achieve these qualifications. Full attendance and participation for ALL subjects is a minimum expectation.
You will be required to attend college with an attitude that reflects your aspiration to develop and maintain a professional approach to your studies and improve your employability skills.

What do I need to bring?
You will need a selection of note-taking resources, depending on your preferred learning method. This could include notepads, pens and pencils, or a laptop or tablet.
You will also need a valid passport so that you can join us on international trips. You will be required to contribute a cost towards these trips.
As a Hospitality student you will be required to work occasional evenings and/or weekends.

If you are 19 or over on 31st August 2020, have been a permanent resident in the EU for the last 3 years and are a fee paying new entrant you will pay approx. £2000 tuition fee for a Level 2 qualification and approx. £5500 for a Level 3 qualification (these were the fees for 2018/19 and could be subject to change for 2019/20).
Fee paying students continuing on the same course for a second year will be charged £2000 tuition fee for a Level 2 qualification and approx. £8500 for a Level 3 qualification (these were the fees for 2018/19 and could be subject to change for 2019/20).
If you are aged 19-23 you may also be entitled to free training if the course you choose is your first full Level 2 or Level 3 qualification. You may also be required to pay an administration fee, exam fees, kit fee and an Awarding Body Registration fee if applicable.
