If you have a passion for managing events and see yourself as the next big events, wedding, festival or venue manager then our Events Management course will give you the opportunity to flex your planning, coordinating and networking skills. The course is a blend of classroom theory and practical activities. Students can go on to complete a second year, progress to higher education or work within the industry.
What can I do next?
This course enables students to pursue a career in a wide range of fields including product launches, theme parties, festivals, concerts, VIP events, ceremonies, weddings, conferences, press conferences and team building events. On completion you may choose to progress to a Higher National Diploma or University or go straight into employment.
What will I be doing?
This course is a blend of classroom learning in world class facilities at our Broxbourne campus. The course also offers a unique opportunity to gain unrivalled work experience in a variety of roles and areas in the events industry. Past placements and employer partners include: Comic Con, Standon Calling, St Albans Fashion Week, Ware Dickensian Evening. Many previous learners have been offered paid work upon completion of these placements. Students can also benefit from opportunities for deeper learning, where they are able to make connections between units and select areas of interest for detailed study. Learners can therefore develop knowledge and academic study skills required for progression to university degree courses, including:

Course content and structure:
Learners may continue to year 2 providing they achieve a minimum of a Merit and meet expectations for timekeeping, attendance and behaviour.
As a Btec level 3 student at Hertford Regional College you have the fantastic opportunity to engage in a range of different activities to support your studies. These include:

- Guest lecturers and networking with industry professionals

- Opportunities to gain fantastic work experience and enrichment
How will I be assessed?
BTEC Nationals allow for a variety of forms of assessment evidence. Learners will need to carry out research and analysis and demonstrate practical skills.
Below are some examples used as a form of assessment:
- Written reports, essays
- In class tests
- Creation of documents
- Work based projects
- PowerPoint (or similar) presentations
- Working logbooks, reflective journals
You will need a minimum of 194 GCSE entry points or a level 2 Diploma at Merit level in a related subject ie; Business, Travel & Tourism.
GCSE in English Language and Maths grade 4 or above.
There will be an initial diagnostic assessment to ensure your suitability for this programme of study.
What do I need to bring?
To engage in the full experience of being a Btec level 3 student you will
need to, have a valid passport that will enable you to attend international
locations. You will be required to work occasional evenings / weekends as part
of your assessment and work experience.
You are advised to bring with you a laptop / tablet for classroom based activities.
You are also required to pay a £150 fee to cover educational trips and Emergency First Aid and level 2 Food Safety training.
You will also have the opportunity to take part in in an optional but recommended overseas residential trip at an approximate cost of £400. Previous destinations include Berlin, Budapest and Barcelona.
Free to those under 19 on 31st August 2018. If you are 19 or over on 31st August 2018, have been a permanent resident in the EU for the last 3 years and are a fee paying new entrant, you will pay approx. £3000 for a level 3 qualification (these were the fees for 2017/18 and could be subject to change for 2018/19) . Fee paying students continuing on the same course for a second year will be charged approx. £3000 for a level 3 qualification (these were the fees for 2017/18 and could be subject to change for 2018/19). If you are aged 19-23 you may also be entitled to free training if the course you choose is your first full level 3 qualification.
