This course is for electricians who have a practical knowledge and basic understanding of initial and periodic inspection and testing and require a formal qualification that covers the initial verification sequence and periodic inspection and the requirements of the BS7671 including the relevant certification. This course is a combination of the 2 new inspection and testing certificates.
At the end of the programme of study participants will have a practical understanding of the inspection and testing and certification requirements of BS7671.
What can I do next?
On completion of this practical course, participants will gain a greater understanding of the skills and knowledge required to progress to other qualifications such as the Design and Verification of Electrical Installations and other recognised Management and Leadership qualifications.
What will I be doing?
The course will cover the theoretical and practical requirements of the initial and periodic inspection, testing of electical installations including principles, practices, legislation and relevant certification used for electrical installations.
How will I be assessed?
The course consists of online open book multiple choice and written exams, and practical assessments.
Entry requirements
Candidates must have a good understanding of the latest BS7671 Wiring Regulations and preferably a recent qualification, a Level 3 Certificate in Electrical Installations or equivalent, working in the trade regularly having to complete Initial and Periodic Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations on a regular basis and have a good level of English and maths.
What do I need to bring?
BS7671 Wiring Regulations, the BS7671 On Site Guide and Guidance Note 3 Inspection and Testing (all to the latest edition).
When working in the practical workshops Personal Protective footwear and overalls will be required at all times.
The general classroom equipment should include a pencil case with writing pens, pencils, coloured pencils and pens, scientific calculator, ruler, set square, protractor, compass, notepad with lined and plain paper together with an A4 folder.
