What can I do next?
On successful completion of Level 2, you will be eligible to progress to the next step, Functional Skills or GCSE English.
What will I be doing?
This course is primarily designed for those who have a very good knowledge of the English language. We will concentrate on further building the skills required to enable learners to progress their English to a higher level, perhaps with an intention to progress to GCSE. We will be covering and reviewing all of the key elements such as the more complex tenses, specific business English and specialised vocabulary and helping to further build their confidence in Speaking and Listening.
How will I be assessed?
All students take three separate assessments: Speaking and Listening (week commencing 25 of November) Reading (week commencing 30 of March) and the final writing assessment will take place in May (week commencing 18 of May). You will receive a separate exam certificate from Pearsons, the exam board, for each of these separate elements.
There are no formal entry requirements. You will be invited to the College for an informal interview with one of the ESOL tutors. You will also complete an initial diagnostic assessment to ensure the correct programme level for you.
What do I need to bring?
A bilingual dictionary will be very helpful. You will be provided with a course book and a workbook for your level. You will also need pens, paper and files for your work. You will also need to put aside some time for homework between classes.
There is a £45 fee to cover the cost of books. You may be eligible for free ESOL classes according to your individual circumstances.
These fees are indicative of the 2019-20 costs and may be subject to change
