French for Beginners is designed for people who are new to the French language or may have a little knowledge of the language which requires some improvement. This is 16-week course that will introduce you to the language and provide you with the confidence to progress to the next level.

What will I be doing?
This courses will focus on developing core skills in reading, writing and speaking in French so you can communicate on everyday issues such as; food/drink, travel, weather, accommodation, time, colours, numbers, dates, describing people and places. French for Beginners will focus on the present tenses.
You will have the opportunity to do some culturally interesting activities in addition to your course. For example, you may choose to go to a French restaurant or film.
How will I be assessed?
There is no formal assessment for this course; however, you may agree some individual learning goals with your tutor and keep a learning plan to monitor your progress.
French for Beginners: There are no entry requirements for this course.
What do I need to bring?
Enthusiasm and some time to do homework; a sense of humour and willingness to do group work and take part in role plays to develop your speaking and listening skills. You will be expected to attend every week or notify your tutor for reason of absence, failure to do so could result in you being withdrawn.
The college will provide French dictionaries and worksheets as necessary, but you will be expected to buy a French workbook as directed by your tutor.
