The qualification will enable you to teach mat Pilates at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels on a one-to-one basis or in group sessions. You will learn through a mixture of practical workshops, in-class study and self-study over the 12 weeks.
The course is suitable for those who have been working in the fitness industry, wishing to develop their skills or possibly looking for a career change and have been regularly attending classes.
Pilates strengthens the body in an even way, with particular emphasis on core strength to improve general fitness and wellbeing. It has something to offer all ages and levels of ability and fitness, from beginners to elite athletes.
As a Pilates teacher you can make a real difference to the quality of people's lives by easing shoulder tension, strengthening core muscles and creating greater body and postural awareness.

What can I do next?
Once you have completed this qualfication you will be able to teach mat Pilates at beginner, intermediate and advanced levels on a one-to-one basis or in group sessions.
You can work towards Level 3 Diploma In Exercise Referral, which is designed to provide learners with the knowledge to ensure safe and effective exercise programming for patients with a number of medical conditions and common reasons for referral onto a community-based exercise referral scheme.
After 6 to 12 months post-qualifying experience, you can work towards Level 4 Certificate in Instructing Pilates Matwork, provide learners with additional teaching skills which will enable them to work with a range of clients and small equipment.
What will I be doing?
This 12 week course has a mix of practical sessions, in class study and you will be required to do some self study outsdie of the taught sessions.
The areas covered are:
- Practical Pilates
- Principles of Matwork Pilates
- Programming & Instructing Pilates
- How to support clients who take part in exercise & physical activity
- Principles of exercise, fitness and health
- Anatomy & Physiology for exercise & health
How will I be assessed?
You will sit a multiple choice theory exam and a written assignment at the end of the 12 weeks.
You will complete a case study, a client interview, a worksheet as well as having an observed practical demonstration.
There are no specific entry requirements for this qualification however some experience of Pilates classes is highly recommended
The course requires physical exertion and individual participation is essential; therefore, a degree of physical
fitness is necessary
What do I need to bring?
All the equipment required for the course will be provided. If you wish to bring your own Yoga mat, you are very welcome to do so.
The course fee is £2225. Depending on your circumstances, you may be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan to fund the course.
