Mike is Chair of the Corporation having held the role for over 10 years. Before his retirement in 2015, Mike was the International Director of several worldwide logistics companies. He has been involved, as a private consultant, in several varied projects for private companies both in physical distribution solutions and operation flow environments. He was also the Leader of East Herts Council for 6 years.

Victoria joined the HRC Board in autumn 2019 and is a member of the Quality, Standards and Business Planning Committee. She is a strategy consultant who works exclusively across public services, advising clients across Education, Health and Central Government. Her expertise is in strategic decision making, including business cases, partnerships (including Mergers & Aquisitions), and options appraisals.

Victoria holds a degree in Philosophy and Economics from the London School of Economics, and is currently studying for an Executive Masters from the University of Cambridge, Judge Business School, in Social Innovation. She is passionate about driving evidence-based change, and committed to driving social value in the public sector.

Mick has recently retired from his role as an education worker with Hertfordshire County Council’s social services. Before that he was a chemist with a large pharmaceutical company. Mick’s association with the college goes back nearly 40 years: he has been a part-time, full-time and day-release student at HRC and he also worked as a science technician and chemistry lecturer at the college in the ‘80s and early ‘90s. Mick is now a self-employed hypnotherapist and counsellor.

Mick brings to the board his passion and belief in the power of education to encourage self-development and personal growth. Mick is grateful for the opportunity to be giving something back to the college, which has played such a positive part in his life over the years and he wants to see the college thrive at the centre of the local community. Mick’s interests include keeping fit by walking and cycling; the arts; listening to music; following the Everton Football Club.

Profile
Ricky is the support staff governor. He worked for a local Pharmaceutical company for 24 years and joined the College just over 6 years ago. He was the Health and Safety Manager at the College for 4.5 years before taking over the role of Facilities and Estates Manager. Ricky wants to ensure we provide our students with the best educational experience and watch them grow and develop in their careers.

Tony has 12+ years experience as Principal & Chief Executive in two colleges and was appointed to the role at HRC in August 2015. He has senior leadership experience in both the public and private sector. He has an established track-record of delivering demonstrable quality improvement, partnership development, income growth, curriculum development and complex projects. He has chaired conferences, national policy groups and working parties reporting directly to ministers. He has delivered keynote speeces and workshops on education leadership in both the UK and overseas including the USA, Tanzania, Vietnam and Jordan. He was a previous winner of a national Education Partnership Award.

Ian is the Chief Officer of the Community Voluntary Services (CVS) for Broxbourne and East Herts. The CVS works in partnership with local authorities, housing associations and educational establishments to support community projects and initiatives that meet the needs and aspirations of local residents. He has been working in the East of Hertfordshire since 1997.

Ian has a wealth of knowledge and experience of the planning, governance, capacity building and effective delivery of community-based organisations and has worked in statutory and voluntary-based community services for approaching 30 years. Having initially trained as a Youth and Community Professional, Ian retains a keen interest in the development of young pepole and their transition to adulthood. He is a keen supported of apprenticeships and the CVS has employed a number of young people through the HRC apprenticeship scheme in the past few years.

Originally from East London, Ian is married with four children, one of whom is still in full-time education. He has volunteered for a variety of organisations and was until recently a Director of Credit Union. He is still a keen sportsman and completed the 2010 London Marathon raising funds for the Hertfordshire Community Foundation in the process. As a season ticket holder for 40 years at Leyton Orient, Ian is fully aware that life is full of ups and downs - but is always up for a challenge.

Profile
John is the Director of Finance at the Education & Training Foundation (ETF). He has a commercial background working in the telecoms and technology sector.  Prior to joining the ETF, he spent 25 years with Dixons and then Orange as they went through various mergers and acquisitions. He has been responsible for the financial plans, due diligence, contract negotiations, integration of systems and processes and staff management.  In 2013 John joined Action for Children where he gained his first experience in the charity sector and got exposure to local authority contracts and funding.

Charlotte began her career in the charity sector supporting small businesses before moving on to the construction and rail industries in a range of environmental, safety and quality management roles. In 2008 she joined the Houses of Parliament as their first Head of Fire Safety & Environment and is now their Head of Enterprise Portfolio Office with oversight of Parliament’s portfolio of investment projects. She is a Chartered Environmentalist, has featured in Management Today’s 35 Women under 35 as well as a runner up Shell Business Woman of the Future and is a STEM Ambassador. She has two small children and plays in goal for Bishops Stortford Hockey Club.

Jan worked for GlaxoSmithKline until 2005 and was responsible for the IT Graduate Development Programme and IT Project Manager with experience in Financial Systems. Since retirement, Jan is Chairman of both the Community Voluntary Services for Broxbourne and East Herts and chairs Ware Town Partnership, which is responsible for Ware in Bloom and Dickensian Evening. Jan is involved with many community organisations including Ware Arts Centre.
