Early Years Minister Caroline Dinenage has this month confirmed that English and maths qualifications equivalent to GCSE will now be accepted by employers recruiting talented individuals in the childcare industry.

Since 2014, those wishing to enter the industry have needed at least C grades in GCSE English and maths while functional skills qualifications were not accepted.

This has since been overturned with functional skills now being recognised as an equivalent qualification. It is hoped the change will encourage those with a range of qualifications to now enter the industry.

HRC's popular Childcare courses are designed to prepare you for working successfully in the industry, with options to study full-time or part-time. While studying with us you can also achieve your functional skills or GCSE qualifications to ensure you have the skills employers value. Find out more about our courses and how they can help you reach your career destination.

More information on the qualifications change can be found here.
