The students took the time to plan the event and were very keen to create posters, flyers, leaflets and bunting to promote it. They also supplied the cakes! Students who were not actually timetabled to be in for the day came in to help out, using their initiative to take the cakes round to staff offices either asking for a donation or purchase of a cake.
One student, Amie said “there was a lot of energy around – we enjoyed fundraising for MacMillan Cancer.” The students wanted to continue fundraising instead of going to their lessons, as they enjoyed themselves so much. Student Mia said, “It got us to interact more with other people.”
The students managed to raise over £150 and are now planning fundraising events for Children in Need, with lots of ideas flooding in!
