Not only have the students and catering team been serving up delicious festive meals to the local community, staff and other students, they have also been busy achieving high-ranking industry awards in recognition of the restaurant's excellence.
The Atrium team were visited in November by People 1st and an AA Inspector to assess the restaurant's training, professionalism and overall standards within the hospitality industry. The team were delighted that the visit resulted in The Atrium achieving not one, but two awards:
- Silver Hospitality Accreditation from People 1st
- AA College Award Rosette from The AA
A particular highlight of the judge's feedback was that "the college was completed/opened in 2011 thus the restaurant is one of the best college restaurants to date in terms of quality, style and accessibility".
There are many benefits to becoming an accredited college but, most essentially, it brings employers and training providers such as HRC together to help raise the professionalism of the hospitality industry. For HRC it ensures that employers and students know our college is recognised for best practice and excellence in our delivery of training and qualifications.
However, these were not the only awards to be won by The Atrium. The cherry on top came with the announcement that the restaurant has been rated 5 stars on TripAdvisor for three consecutive years, highlighting the quality of hospitality the restaurant offers to HRC's local community.
