The students independently planned and organised a fund-raising event based at the 058 060Broxbourne campus, securing donations of goods from Cancer Research, Tesco & Spraytech Ltd who had provided a work experience placement for one of our learners. One group also received seed money from HRC’s Student Services team to get activities underway.

Armed with doughnuts, homemade cakes and sweets, the students got to work, setting up stalls in the main atrium of the Broxbourne campus and encouraging HRC students and staff to donate to their causes.

Whilst planning the event, the students researched charities and held a vote to decide which ones would be supported. Keech Hospice was chosen in order to bring more attention to the charity along with Breast Cancer Care as the cause is close to the hearts of many families.

The Level 3 students raised £77 for Breast Cancer Care while the Level 2 students achieved £72 for Keech Hospice with some stock left over still to sell so the final figure will undoubtedly go up even more!
