We are delighted to announce that one of our Motor Vehicle lecturers, Andreas Anastasi, has been shortlisted for the Teacher of the Year award at the prestigious TES Awards.

These awards recognise the most outstanding individuals and institutions that the further education sector has to offer and we are thrilled that Andreas has been recognised for all of his hard work and commitment.

TES head of FE Julia Belgutay commented, “Further education providers have excelled in what has been a truly challenging year, and the amazing individuals, teams and institutions on our TES FE Awards shortlist showcase that. Our judges were highly impressed with the calibre of entries and I want to congratulate everyone who has made the shortlist – it is a brilliant achievement."

The awards ceremony will be held virtually on Friday 28^th May 2021. We wish Andreas the very best of luck on the day!

Dear Parents / Carers / Students

As young people return to College full-time, we have put in place a range of protective measures to reduce the risk of transmission. We will also be engaging fully with the NHS Test & Trace process and will work closely with the local Health Protection Team of Public Health England and the local authority to ensure that any confirmed cases are reported without delay.

Tuition Fund Statement 2022-23

What is the tuition fund?

The coronavirus (COVID-19) 16 to 19 tuition fund is a fund allocated to all 16 to 19 institutions who receive annual funding allocations from the ESFA for the provision of 16 to 19 education, specifically to mitigate the disruption to learning due to COVID-19. The funding is targeted at students in most need, offering small group tuition to recover lost learning.

The following activities are supported by the tuition fund:

• Small groups and one-to-one tuition
• Tuition in maths, English and other academic subjects
• Tuition in non-academic subjects, such as exam preparation
• Tuition in vocational courses.

Who is eligible to access support through the tuition find?

The following students are edible for tuition via the 16 to 19 tuition fund:

• Students that have not achieved a grade 6 in GCSE English and/or GCSE maths at age 16 and who need catch up support
• Students from the 27% most economically deprived areas of the country (based on the index of multiple deprivation) and who need catch up support
• Students that are economically disadvantaged who meet the 16 to 19 Bursary Fund eligibility criteria and who need catch up support to reach their full potential (even where prior attainment is high)
• Students aged 19 to 24 who have an education, health and care (EHC) plan, subject to meeting the eligibility for the fund.

HRC will support students using the tuition fund in line with the eligibility outlined above via small group and one to one tutoring in English, maths and vocational areas. Small group support sessions will also be made available to support students in non- academic subjects including examination preparation and success.

All tuition fund sessions will be recorded and monitored at curriculum level via the College’s performance review process. The College will ensure that it is not just ‘at risk’ students who access support, but also those who require support to achieve higher grades and skills.
