The work took place over a period of 10 weeks and the students have contributed a considerable amount of hard work in transforming an overgrown and unkempt space into an area that will now give all year interest and colour. The students worked with a team of volunteers led by Jan Wing, organiser of Ware in Bloom, to discuss the project, remove the overgrown plants, clear the bed, build it up with compost and finally plant with perennials.
Of the activity, Jan noted that "we have wanted to replant this bed for several years. It is a great addition to our projects as part of our tenth year of running Ware in Bloom". Lee Valley Regional Park Authority indicated that it is extremely grateful for the generous contribution of time that Ware in Bloom and Hertford Regional College have given to this year.
