Sport & Public Services
HRC is proud to be the first Further Education college in the world to become a Central YMCA Qualification (CYQ) Platinum Partner, the awarding body for HRC’s fitness qualifications. Find out more about the partnership here.
We also partner with Tottenham Hotspur to provide an elite Tottenham Hotspur Football Academy. The course combines access to the first team’s training facility and sessions run by FA/UEFA qualified coaches on top of a full sports qualification.
Our public services tutors have an impressive array of medals and commendations from their time in the army and police force. Their experiences range from frontline policing to CID, rising through the ranks to Detective Constable and Sergeant in the Metropolitan Police and serving in the British Army.
Our Sports courses focus on the practical application of science and nutrition to give you the theoretical training you need to ensure you can stand out from the crowd.
As a Public Services student, you will be inducted onto the course with Bootcamp – a residential trip at the start of the year which truly puts you through your paces. This is complemented with ongoing work experience throughout the year including stewarding and assisting the police at community events. Previously, Public Services students have worked with the Hertford Fire and Rescue Service to assist in training situations based on rescuing casualties from vehicles.
