Engineering and Motor Vehicle
There are wide and varied employment opportunities in Engineering and Motor Vehicle.
Our Engineering building with its well-equipped engineering workshops contain industry standard facilities, including arc and gas welding equipment, bench drilling machines, centre lathes, vertical milling machines, as well as various precision measuring equipment and hand tools. In the electronics workroom, you have access to CAD software and your designs can be brought to life using the 3D printer or the CNC machine that can be programmed to convert your designs to a 3D model.
The Motor Vehicle workshop is always bursting with cars to work on and comes complete with an MOT bay that has been fitted out to main dealer standards, in line with Vehicle and Operations Services Agency (VOSA) testing regulations.
In this department there is a strong focus on developing the practical skills you need to establish yourself in the workplace. Live projects will keep you focused on building your skills. Previous projects completed by our Engineering and Motor Vehicle students include working alongside the Cheshunt Fire and Rescue Service. Together they engineered a car that is taken to schools to demonstrate how the Fire and Rescue Service safely remove people from vehicles. Alongside this, Motor Vehicle students also offer in-house winter checks to HRC staff cars to ensure they are safe in the slightly more challenging weather!
