What can I do next?
After you have successfully completed this programme, you can choose to: Apply for a Higher Education course Apply for an Apprenticeship Enter into employment in this industry Placement on a trainee programme with a Engineering company
What will I be doing?
T Levels will suit those students who know the industry or area of work they want to pursue for a career, and like the idea of a predominantly learning environment based course but with a strong practical emphasis and time in the workplace. They differ from apprenticeships which are predominantly work-based and focussed on a particular occupation; and A levels which are academic and entirely classroom or learning environment based. Since a T Level is equivalent to 3 A levels in size, it is important to recognise the amount and rigour of learning involved. Based at our campus, you will regularly interact with people from the engineering industry, both inside and outside of the classroom and workshop. You'll have access to guest speakers and industry experts visiting and taking classes, employer set projects, site visits, relevant field trips and industry placements on live sites out in the world of work. Class sizes are kept intentionally small to support accelerated learning and use high quality materials and resources developed in partnership with our employers. You'll spend dedicated time in class with industry experts, who will deliver and assess bespoke modules which fill critical skills gaps the industry have identified. Plus, you'll be assigned a specialist employability tutor to support you with your programme and progression towards readiness for the world of work.
Added Extras
There are lots of perks to this course, including the opportunity to work with local employers, meeting guest speakers who are experts in their field, and working with students in other departments to support projects and activities.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through a variety of practical tasks that reflect standards used in the Engineering industry, you will also be expected to provide detailed method statements and at times quantities for materials to support your English and maths skills. We will also assess your underpinning knowledge through various in class and end of unit theory based tests. These will be marked and feedback given to show where you've made progress and where there are areas for development.
