Dear All Higher Education Students

You would have seen the announcement from the college yesterday that the college campuses are closed to students as of today. Therefore, like many other HE providers across the country, including the University of Hertfordshire, we have taken the decision, that as from Monday 23rd March teaching sessions will move to online learning for all students until after the Easter break, when we will reassess based on the most up-to-date information. As an HE student you will need to use your online learning platform (Canvas/Moodle) to access any work, and communicate through the appropriate college channels with your lecturers/tutors regarding what is required of you and any forthcoming assessments. Further discussions are currently taking place regarding some assessments (e.g. exams), where the form of assessment will need to change, so it is important that you continue to access the online learning portal for any updated information regarding your assessments.

Your timetabled teaching sessions should carry on within the normal times during the next two weeks and these will now be conducted online and by other means of teaching and learning as identified by the Programme Managers/Tutors for your courses. You will be communicated with by your Programme Manager/Tutors regarding each teaching session, so again, keeping the channels of communication open in this challenging time is vital.

It is important that you also continue to check the latest Government advice in relation to Covid-19 which can be found at https://www.gov.uk/government/topical-events/coronavirus-covid-19-uk-government-response and follow any guidance necessary in relation to self-isolation etc. If you are unwell, please continue as you should be doing during term times and let your tutors know through email.

For non-academic support you can email Student Welfare at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

This is a very challenging time for all and your Programme Managers and Tutors will be working hard to ensure you are offered the expected high level of teaching and learning in order for you to complete your studies successfully. Please continue to access and undertake your necessary work, online teaching sessions and assessments as directed by your Programme Manager and Tutors.

Please look after yourselves in this difficult time, but continue to work hard to complete and achieve in your studies. If you have any question, please do not hesitate to email me.

Kind regards

Katie Kennedy
